Academics without Borders

Academics without Borders is a Canadian, bi-lingual, non-governmental organization incorporated in March 2007 with charity status in 2008. AWB mission is to support developing countries in building capacity in higher education. AWB fosters this goal by sending as volunteers working and retired professionals and academics, including faculty, staff, and administrators, on projects in the developing world to assist in building and improving tertiary education there.

American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO)

AACRAO is a non-profit, voluntary, professional association of more than 11,000 higher education professionals who represent approximately 2,600 institutions in more than 40 countries. With a history of more than 100 years, its mission is to provide professional development, guidelines, and voluntary standards to be used by higher education officials regarding the best practices in records and academic services, admissions and recruitment, enrollment management, international credential evaluation, administrative information technology, and student services. AACRAO represents institutions in every part of the higher education community, from large public institutions to small, private liberal arts colleges.

Atlantic Association of Registrars and Admissions Officers (AARAO)

AARAO serves as the regional association for enrolment service professionals in Atlantic Canada, supporting the interests, interchange, and professional development of those working in recruitment, admissions, financial aid, registration, records and other closely related functions.

Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (BCI)

The Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire: BCI (formerly known as CREPUQ, Conference of Rectors and Principals of Québec Universities) is a voluntary association of Québec universities, incorporated on May 9, 1967, by Letters Patent under Part III of the Companies Act (CQLR c C-38).

Its overall mission is:

  • Promote exchanges among Québec university administrators,
  • Support their deliberations about joint initiatives, and
  • Make available to the universities services that they need in order to perform their functions, particularly in the areas of teaching, research and administration.

Canadian Association of College and University Student Services (CACUSS)

CACUSS is a professional bilingual association representing and serving those individuals who work in Canadian post-secondary institutions in student affairs and services. Since 1973, CACUSS has provided professional development services and programs for members in all the Canadian provinces. Cross-divisional interest groups called communities of practice and networks were formed by members in 2015 based on their professional needs, focusing on areas such as student health and wellness, first-year students, new professionals, and leadership education.

Canadian Post-secondary Electronic Standards Council User Group (CanPESC)

CanPESC is an open, collaborative permanent group of volunteer stakeholders within PESC that serves as a clearinghouse for discussion and new ideas, a coordinator to help support electronic initiatives with several liaison roles established, and as a unifier in the mission toward digitalization of educational records.

CanPESC focuses on interoperability, enhanced service and delivery, reduced cost, and improved data quality using PESC standards.  CanPESC communicates these benefits for Canada’s students, institutions and Canadian-based educational stakeholders by raising awareness of the importance of standardization and interoperability.
 
CanPESC has participation throughout almost every province and territory in Canada from provincial application centres, leading universities and colleges, and service providers.

Canadian University Council of Chief Information Officers (CUCCIO)

CUCCIO is Canada’s community of information technology leaders in higher education, working together to help Canadian universities excel through the innovative and effective use of IT. Incorporated in 2006, CUCCIO is the result of almost 40 years of information-sharing, collaboration, knowledge creation and advocacy among provincial and regional associations of IT leaders in post-secondary education. Today, CUCCIO is a non-profit, member-funded corporation representing more than 60 universities Canada-wide, who collectively serve over 90% of Canada’s university students.

The Committee of Registrars, Admissions and Liaison Officers, otherwise known as CRALO is a provincial body dedicated to the development of guidelines and procedures common to all Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology relating to Admissions, Liaison, Recruitment, Registration, and Student Records.

Groningen Declaration Network (GDN)

The Groningen Declaration seeks common ground in best serving the academic and professional mobility needs of citizens worldwide by bringing together key stakeholders in the Digital Student Data Ecosystem. We further Life Long Learning  and Human Capital Mobility by promoting the Life Long Learning Passport. Citizens worldwide should be able to consult and share their authentic educational data with whomever they want, whenever they want, wherever they are.

OURA is an association of Ontario university registrars, admissions, records, computer systems, recruitment, financial assistance, scholarships, awards, graduate studies and other university personnel involved in registrarial work. The association was formed in 1964.
